»As a child, I loved rummaging through the roles of fabric in my mother's tailor studio. Later as an illustrator and magazine designer, I refined my love of design, beautiful shapes and patterns. I have always traveled a lot, especially to Thailand, where I have lived more than a year and couldn't help but fall in love with the colours of the country. From there I brought back plenty of inspiration for my own label, including it’s name: Studio Somtum. By the way, Somtum is the Thai word for a fresh, spicy and therefore enormously invigorating papaya salad.«
